Abstract

Electrochemical synthesis of poly(catechol) electroactive film on glassy carbon electrode was studied using cyclic voltammetry. The concentration of hydrogen ions was found to significantly affect the course of electropolymerization process. The pH = 9.2 was found to be the optimal pH value. Fractal coefficients α, fractal dimensions Df and concentrations of active centers of poly(catechol) film were determined. The obtained results showed that the process of catechol oxidation and that of the polymer formed are one-electron and one-proton processes.
