Abstract

Civil construction generates significant impacts on the environment and society. In order to overcome these effects, the LEED environmental certification is recognized as the one with the highest number of “green buildings” accredited in Brazil. This work presents the environmental impact caused by a public-s-chool building, still in the design phase, according to the LEED BD+C (Building and Design Construction): Schools v4.1. Afterwards, feasible interventions were proposed to the project aiming for the building to reach the Certified level, with the least impact on the original concept. Therefore, this study presents a practical contribution by serving as a guide for the continuity of the project’s development, in addition to serving as a basis for similar studies.
