Abstract

1. 1. Potassium loss occurs through the gills of trout. 2. 2. This loss is compensated by intestinal absorption. 3. 3. During a fasting period, branchial regulation appears after 2–3 days. 4. 4. The maintenance of potassium balance is discussed as a function of experimental conditions.
