Abstract
ABSTRACT Three new populations of the invasive New Zealand mud snail, Potamopyrgus antipodarum, have been discovered in central Chile, increasing the documented records in the country to 23. Only females were observed in the present study. Significant differences in shell length and fecundity were found among populations. The size of the snails was less than 6 mm, while fecundity varied from 0 to 45 offspring per snail. A significant correlation was found between adult shell length and brood size in one of the three populations discovered. In these localities, Potamopyrgus antipodarum coexists with native and possibly other invasive gastropods.
