Abstract

Water security is of paramount importance for social, economic, and environmental develop-ment in any region of the world. Rainwater har-vesting offers invaluable benefits to society mainly in rural areas which lack centralized water systems. At the same time, it is considered one of the solutions to solve the problem of water supply. The purification of rainwater does not represent great costs and many advantages. This article focuses on a literature review on the different myths about rainwater and its human consumption. The myths that are held about its qua-lity and provide information to motivate the collection of rainwater in homes considering the optimal conditions for its collection and storage.
