Abstract

Traumatic thromboses and aneurysms are rare complications after hand injuries. In the case presented, the surgical exploration of a painful soft tissue tumor in the thenar region, revealed thrombosis of the superficial palmar branch of the radial artery. Resection of the thrombosed artery was the successful method of treatment. This paper discusses the mechanisms which are responsible for the formation of thrombosis and aneurysms after trauma.
