Abstract

A 22-year-old gravida 1, para 1 woman presented to the emergency department 2 days postpartum with left axillary swelling for 1 day. The patient reported that since puberty, she has had a minor swelling in her left axilla; however, since starting to breastfeed, the area has grown significantly and become painful. She denied any new skin changes over the area, fever, nausea, or vomiting. Her temperature was 37.2 °C (99.0 °F) and other vitals were normal. Physical examination revealed a nonfluctuant, well-defined area of swelling in the left axilla (Figure 1).
