Abstract
(J Clin Anesth. 2017;43:39–46) Postpartum tubal ligation (PPTL) is a procedure frequently performed during the early postpartum period. However, there are limited data regarding optimal anesthetic technique and clinical practice in the United States. Although spinal, epidural, and general anesthesia are all utilized, they have not been comparatively evaluated. Therefore, the authors of the present study reviewed anesthetic techniques utilized for PPTL to determine the rate of successful epidural catheter reactivation, associated characteristics, intraoperative times, and immediate postoperative outcomes of varying techniques.
