Abstract

During the past decade an increasing awareness concerning postoperative pain treatment in children has arisen. There is overwhelming evidence that this treatment often is insufficient (1, 23, 4). The special problems related to the neonatal period has also been discussed (5, 6). To day there are a number of drugs and regional anaesthetic techniques available and the provision of adequate postoperative pain relief should be possible in all children. The object of this paper is to rewiev these methods.
