Abstract

An unsuspected high incidence of postoperative deep-vein thrombosis has been reported in adults using the radioactive fibrinogen, Doppler ultrasound techniques, and venography. 1,2 In children, postoperative deep-vein thrombosis (DVT) rarely occurs. We report two cases of postoperative deep-vein thrombosis, out of four unselected and randomly studied patients and suggest that postoperative DVT may not be so uncommon. The symptoms and signs may be minimal or absent, and thus the condition has been missed.
