Abstract

Release of the transverse carpal ligament is the most common surgery performed on the hand. The overall postoperative rate ranges from 1 to 25%. Followed by injury to the palmar cutaneous branch of the median nerve, a painful or hypertrophic scar is the most common complication of the open technique. Incomplete release of the transverse ligament is the most frequent problem following the endoscopic or limited-incision technique.
