Abstract

If class structure means only socio-occupational distribution, there ist no reason to speak about post-industrial society. Let’s say more simply that in advanced industrial societies, the relative importance of technicians, Professionals and scientists tends to increase. We could even use vague expressions as: the growing importance of the tertiary sector and the relative decline of the secondary sector. But we all feel that class structure means some-thing more than labour force.
