Abstract
The results obtained from a survey of the higher medical degrees awarded by the University of Aberdeen between 1931 and 1969 is reported. Over the period of the survey there has been a decline in the proportion of M.B. graduates proceeding to the M.D., and the interval between the M.B. and the M.D. has lengthened. A disproportionately high number of honours grades of the M.D. were awarded to theses describing laboratory-orientated research. A relatively high proportion of holders of the M.D. were in hospital or academic appointments while few were in general practices.
