Abstract

Abstract Foamed polystyrene extrusion sheet is often postformed at reasonably warm tempertures for various final applications. A modified Erichsen testing apparatus with heating chamber was used for evaluating the temperature dependence of the postforming ability of foamed polystyrene sheet. Circular sheets (90 mm diameter) of thickness 1.5-2.4 mm were used as test speciments in these experiments. Fracture of sheet specimens at the hemispherical punch corner can be observed through the upper glass plate during the punch penetration travel.
