As a result of reading this article, physicians should be able to: 1. Discuss advances in posterior cervical instrumentation. 2. Identify complications associated with various instrumentation techniques. 3. Describe indications for posterior cervical instrumentation. 4. Recognize relative advantages and disadvantages of various types of posterior cervical instrumentation.
