Abstract

Setting: Acute inpatient rehabilitation hospital. Patient: 56-year-old man with multiple stroke risk factors. Case Description: The patient initially presented to our academic hospital with sudden onset lightheadedness, gait instability, and left-sided hearing loss. Given the concern for a stroke, he was admitted to the neurology service and a physical medicine and rehabilitation consult was subsequently requested. Brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) could not be obtained due to a pacemaker, and CTA was unobtainable secondary to difficulty with access.
