Abstract

Objective: To document the rehabilitation outcomes of older stroke patients by racial/ethnic group. Design: Secondary analysis of national Medicare assessment and claims data. Setting: 1345 inpatient rehabilitation facilities. Participants: Poststroke patients 65 years and older treated in an inpatient rehabilitation facility and discharged in 2002 through 2005. Interventions: Not applicable. Main Outcome Measure: Length of stay (LOS), functional status at discharge measured by the FIM instrument), and discharge setting.
