Abstract

Objective: Determine the rate of change of the median frequency (MF) of the surface electromyography (SEMG) of muscles that were isometrically contracted during a fatiguing effort. Design: SEMG data were recorded from 3 different muscles during a fatiguing isometric exercise from four subjects in 16 trials, ranging in duration from 20 to 60 seconds. Recoding parameters were a band pass of 20 to 450Hz with a sampling rate of 1000 samples per second. The MF of the SEMG Power Spectral Density (PSD) function was computed at 1-second intervals (from onset of muscle exertion) by means of computing the linear regression from the resulting MF time-series.
