Abstract

Objective: To use health care professional, patient, and caregiver focus groups to modify a pool of questions designed to measure functional cognition (ie, cognition as reflected in everyday activities) after traumatic brain injury (TBI). Design: Focus group sessions and research team consensus to modify a 269-item (question) pool. Setting: Acute, inpatient, and outpatient TBI settings. Participants: 20 health care professionals: physicians, nurses, therapists, and neuropsychologists who work with TBI patients; data from an additional 30 participants, including patients and caregivers will be analyzed.
