Abstract

Objective: To assess whether the presence of a sleep-related breathing disorder (SRBD) is associated with a poorer functional outcome for patients after an acute stroke. Design: A retrospective chart review. Setting: Acute inpatient stroke rehabilitation unit in a large academic institution. Participants: A convenience sample of 71 stroke patients who received a continuous, nocturnal pulse oximetry study with recording on room air within 1 week of admission to the acute stroke rehabilitation unit.
