Abstract

Objectives: To describe social communication skills problems as identified by people with traumatic brain injury (TBI) compared with significant other (SO) and clinician ratings; and to describe the associations between these skills and community integration and satisfaction with life. Design: Cohort study. Setting: Community. Participants: 60 people with TBI ≥1 year postinjury; volunteer sample; and 58 SOs. Interventions: Not applicable. Main Outcome Measures: Social Communication Skills Questionnaire–Adapted, occupational and social integration subscales of the Craig Handicap Assessment and Reporting Technique–Short Form, productivity and social integration subscales of the Community Integration Questionnaire, Satisfaction With Life Scale, and the Profile of Functional Impairment in Communication (PFIC).
