Abstract
Objective: To test the hypothesis that pulsatile lavage as an adjunct hydrotherapy will enhance the healing rate of stage III or IV pressure ulcers in persons with spinal cord injury (SCI). Design: Randomized, controlled, double-blind study. Setting: Tertiary care SCI inpatient unit. Participants:20 SCI subjects were randomly assigned to pulsatile lavage treatment group (n=10) or sham treatment group (n=10). All had stage III or IV pelvic pressure ulcers with minimum dimension of 3cm and maximum dimension of 15cm (in length, width or depth).
