Abstract

Objective: To objectively evaluate forefoot mean force during terminal double support (TDS) in individuals with hemiplegia with and without an ankle foot orthosis (AFO). Design: A prospective study. Setting: Rehabilitation research center. Participants: 15 adults with stroke related hemiplegia more than 6 months, currently using a rigid plastic AFO. Interventions: Not applicable. Main Outcome Measures: Whole foot mean force (N) and forefoot (metatarsal heads, toes, and hallux) mean force (N) during the terminal double support (TDS) phase of the gait cycle.
