Abstract

Objective: To examine the relationship between family needs and psychologic well-being in caregivers of relatives with traumatic brain injury (TBI). Design: Correlational study. Setting: University hospital in Colombia. Participants: 20 family-member caregivers of people with TBI. Interventions: Not applicable. Main Outcome Measures: Family Needs Questionnaire, Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9), Zarit Burden Interview (ZBI), and Satisfaction With Life Scale (SWLS). Results: The following needs categories were most important to family caregivers: health information (95%), professional support (95%), involvement with care (90%), community support (85%), emotional support (80%), and instrumental support (77%).
