Abstract

Setting: University hospital. Patient: A 55-year-old man with a history of gout, IgA nephropathy, and renal transplant. Case Description: The patient presented with complaints of watery diarrhea, nauseau, vomiting, and progressive weakness of all 4 extremities. The patient was unable to walk, raise his arms, or hold his head up. 5 days prior to admission, he had an acute exacerbation of gouty arthritis and was advised by his private medical doctor to increase his Colchicine dose from 0.6mg/d to 0.6mg/h.
