Abstract

Despite significant achievements in burn treatments, the number of scar contractures is high. Among three burn consequences—scar deformity, contracture, and tissue defect—contractures most often lead to disability. Therefore, efficient treatment of scar contractures is of primary importance in the surgical rehabilitation of burned patients. Treating burn scar contractures remains a challenging problem for reconstructive surgeons, and no definitive conclusions have been reached about the effectiveness of different techniques.
