Abstract

A postbuckling analysis is presented for a biaxially compressed, simply supported, moderately thick rectangular plate resting on a two-parameter (Paste rnak-type) elastic foundation. The formulations are based on the Reissner-Mindlin plate theory. The analysis uses a perturbation technique to determine the interactive buckling loads and postbuckling equilibrium paths. The initial geometrical imperfection of the plate is taken into account. Numerical examples are presented for the performance of perfect and imperfect, uniaxially and biaxially compressed, moderately thick rectangular plates resting on Winkler and two-parameter elastic foundations. Typical results are presented in dimensionless graphical form.
