Abstract

Post-wash Semen Quality and Outcome of Intrauterine Insemination Intrauterine insemination (IUI) is used for treatment of infertile couples with unexplained infertility and mild or moderate male factor. Intrauterine insemination (IUI) is a simple, non-invasive procedure and usually combined with ovulation induction (OI) to improve pregnancy rate. Results of previous studies about semen parameters evaluation are conflicting, some studies suggest that total motile sperm count (TMC) in prewash sample on day of insemination may serve as a good predictor of sperm quality and pregnancy rate, while, analysis of semen parameters after preparation (post-wash) can provide useful prognostic information for women undergoing IUI. Post-wash total motile progressive count (post-wash TMC) was proposed as a reliable method to determine when to conduct intra-cytoplasmic injection (ICSI) in in-vitro fertilization cycles (IVF) cycles. This prospective study was designed to detect best semen parameters to achieve pregnancy in infertile women undergoing OI and IUI treatment. .
