Abstract

The importance of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) for medically ill patients is significant and increasingly acknowledged. In this article we aim to provide a brief overview of relevant literature on PTSD following medical illness and focus on an area of relative empirical neglect by psychiatry and health psychology: the temporal experience of VTE and specific PTSD symptomology.
