Abstract

A 2-year-old girl presented to the emergency department with severe pain, excessive crying and inability to use the right arm. She was apparently playing on the swing with other elder children when she fell from the swing. There was loss of normal contour of the shoulder joint with resistance to allow anyone to touch the joint.Radiographs done revealed an inferior and medial migration of the humeral head (Fig. 1). There was no associated neurovascular deficit. There was no history of any previous such episodes or any other joint laxity. The dislocation was reduced easily by gentle traction in the line of deformity with counter-traction in the axilla under sedation.
