Abstract

A 24-year-old male was referred for unilateral visual loss and papilloedema. Eight years previously he had suffered a penetrating injury to the affected eye and 6 months prior to presentation a blunt contusive injury. Examination revealed a post-traumatic cystic bleb and signs of hypotonic papilloedema and maculopathy. Filtering blebs may therefore occur as a complication of trauma and be symptomatic over long periods of time.
