Abstract

A prospective study was carried out on 14 patients mean age of 10 years; they were suffering from invertor muscle paralysis (both tibialis anterior and posterior) due to poliomyelitis. This study is showing the results of surgery after a follow up of 4 years (range 1–6 years). It is concluded that the peroneus brevis tendon transfer anterior to the ankle in to the base of the second metatarsal bone together with a proper sub-talar extra articular arthrodesis is consistent with good results. The outcome is poor transferring behind the medial malleolus and when peroneus longus tendon is used.
