Abstract
The clinical relevance of post-interventional cardiac troponin release after elective percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI) in patients without overt signs of peri-interventional myocardial ischemia is still controversially discussed particularly in the field of interventional cardiology [1] despite rising the decision limit for cardiac troponins for the diagnosis of Type IVa myocardial infarction in the recent update of the universal definition of myocardial infarction to 5 times of the upper reference limit (URL) [2].
