Abstract

The present work is an attempt to evaluate promising sugarcane varieties for their post harvest deterioration under storage. Two sugarcane clones CYZ02-588 and CYZ02-1826 were stored under natural condition for 6 days without any water spray sucrose content (SC), gravity pure (GP), reducing sugar (RS) and single stalk weight (SSW) were estimated every day. The results indicated that SC, GP and SSW decreased at various levels and RS increased gradually. The deterioration in quality was found lower in CYZ02-588 compared to CYZ02-1826. These results help in understanding the process of post harvest deterioration of sugarcane.
