Abstract

The availability of high power microwave sources like gyrotrons gives us now the opportunity to amplify the rf Gaussian beam generated by a conventional gyrotron via its interaction with a sheet electron beam. The corresponding field amplitude is adequate for the interaction to proceed at the nonlinear large-signal regime that is characterized by high efficiency and a significant power gain could be expected.
