Abstract
The conditions for a distinctive observation of shadowing effects in the low- x region of deep inelastic ep scattering are presented. It turns out that shadowing effects may be clearly observable only provided F 2( x, Q 2) is flat at some low input scale Q 2= Q 0 2 with Q 0 2≅4 GeV 2 at HERA.
