Abstract

Single crystals of filled skutterudite CeFe4As12 were examined with X-ray diffraction and electrical resistivity measurements. We have found two types of crystals with the same structure which differ in morphology, lattice parameter and, most importantly, in the temperature dependence of the electrical resistivity, ρ(T) below 165 K; dρ/dT becomes positive or negative, respectively. The band structure calculations point at the low electronic density of states at the Fermi level and an indirect gap at the Γ point.
