Abstract

It is shown that in gas storage tanks and closed premises containing gas mixtures consisting of components of the type of hydrogen, lower hydrocarbons, and light freons, the gravitational stratification of the components at a height difference of 15–20 m is only fractions of a percent even when there are no convection currents. It is noted that under such conditions, gas mixtures are uniform with respect to composition and reactivity. It is found that due to the convection currents that exist under real conditions, the uniformity of a gas mixture is preserved at an even greater height difference.
