Abstract
<h3>To the Editor:—</h3> I note in the QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS department (<b>200</b>:269, 1967) advice concerning the treatment of delirium tremens, wherein treatment with paraldehyde, chlorpromazine, and corticotropin is recommended. Experimental work done many years ago at the Public Health Service Hospital at Lexington, Ky, demonstrated quite conclusively that delirium tremens is best considered a withdrawal syndrome from sedative medication and treated as such with the use of pentobarbital. There have been numerous articles in the psychiatric literature outlining the procedure to be used and giving reference to the original articles.
