Possibility of harvesting Vibration energy from power producing devices: A review

Abstract

Harvesting means conserving or storing process. Today the need of the globalized world is harvesting of energy. Energy harvesting is a process through which energy can be extracted from different sources and conserved or stored for useful purposes. This process can be carried out for small, wireless autonomous device. Solar, wind & Vibration energy is typically harvested. This paper investigates possibility of energy harvesting such vibration energy, which would have been otherwise wasted. Vibration energy could be harvested through several power generating devices such as motors, compressors, heat exchangers. Some of the popular techniques used to harvest vibration energy are piezoelectric energy harvesting, electrostatic energy harvesting and thermoelectric energy harvesting.
