Abstract

A method of expanding the operational capabilities of axial ball couplings is proposed to prevent overloading of mechanical drive parts by automatically separating the ends of the shafts as the torque increases to undesirable values. A new design of a part of a mechanical actuator, called the ball-bending axial axial coupling, was developed and patented, and kinematic-force calculations of its main elements were carried out. The main results of the conducted researches of the following important problems are presented in the work: the necessity of improvement of characteristics with expansion of functions of ball overrunning couplings is substantiated; scientific approach and synthesis of ball deflection couplings have been developed; an analytical analysis of the design and force parameters of ball bending-protection couplings; a common mathematical model of the condition of automatic disconnection of shaft ends connected by coupling during overloads and prevention of kinematic chain of mechanical drive from overloads; the basic parameters of the coupling are scientifically substantiated and patented by their patent of Ukraine for utility model. The graphical dependences of the power parameters on the geometric factors of the coupling are shown.
