Abstract

Abstract The paper is focused on the implementation of elements of satellite navigation systems in the field of railway traffic. More specifically, it presents several functionalities that can either be implemented to the current technological and information systems, or serve for a new digital assistive device whose system is based on the location detected through the navigation system. It can generate outputs for the engine driver as well as for the infrastructure manager’s employees. The main target is not to replace railway signaling systems, but to raise awareness, to improve the comfort of employees and to reduce the occurrence of undesirable situations.
