Abstract

Objective — to assess the efficacy of the hepatoprotector ademetionine for the correction of immune disorders in athletes of high professional qualification in the post-competitive period.Materials and methods. Examinations involved 34 biathletes at the peak of maximal physical exertion on the first day after the end of the competition and 32 practically healthy individuals (the control group). The indices of humoral immunity and cellular immunity were assessed before and after monthly administration of ademetionine.Results. During the period of maximum physical exertion, the highly qualified athletes changed almost all indicators of humoral immunity, except for general immunoglobulin E, as well as most of the indicators of cellular immunity. For athletes who took ademetionine for a month, recovery of immune status indicators was in most cases significantly more pronounced than in the group of professional athletes who did not take ademetionineConclusions. Ademetionine had positive effects on the restoration of the immune status of athletes in the post-competition period.
