Abstract

Theoretical investigations are performed for positronium formation in positroncollisions with a one-electron model atom which has zero threshold energy forpositronium formation. Investigations are also performed with positronium itselfas the target, but treating the two positrons as distinguishable. The similaritiesbetween the cross sections obtained and the value of the parameter A arisingin the previously discovered correlation between the cross section and the thresholdenergy for positronium formation, σPs = A exp(−B EPs),provide support for the previous interpretation ofA asthe positronium formation cross section for an atom with a formation thresholdenergy of zero.
