Abstract

AbstractThe positron annihilation lifetime studies were carried out on XAD‐4 resin loaded with different Ps quenchers in sub‐monolayer quantities. The o‐Ps intensity and lifetime of the longest lived component, corresponding to positronium annihilation in mesopores, were seen to reduce with adsorption of β‐naphthol. In the case of nitroaniline and nitrobenzene adsorption, only the intensity of this component reduced. The studies showed that the physical dimension of the quencher should also be large to manifest as positronium quencher when adsorbed on to the porous materials if the porous material has large surface fractals.
