Abstract

This book presents conference papers which review the current state of the oretical calculations and experimental results obtained using conventional positron sources. Various methods of producing more intense positron beams are discussed and some of the experiments which might be done when these beams become available are described. Topics considered include total cross sections of positron scattering in gases, positronium formation cross-sections in various gases, recent fundamental and applied research on positronium, positronium formation in gases and liquids, positron lifetime spectra for gases, the calculation of positron lifetimes, techniques for studying systems containing many positrons, surface studies with slow positron beams, intense positron beams from Linacs, intense positron beams and possible experiments, the generation of monoenergetic positrons, applications of intense positron beams, and low energy positron and positronium diffraction.
