Abstract

We have measured positron lifetimes in pressure vessel steel model alloys of A533-B and A302-B type, containing various amounts of Cu, Mn, Mo, and Ni alloying elements. Samples were prepared from broken halves of irradiated Charpy specimens used earlier for radiation sensitivity and composition interaction studies. The observed changes in the average positron lifetime seem to correlate well with changes in the alloy composition. A preliminary interpretation of the lifetime values is given.
