Abstract

This chapter presents the approach of positive psychotherapy (PPT) to transcultural content behind psychological symptoms and also to the transcultural interaction of the therapist and the client. PPT is an integrative method used in different transcultural environments with the application of a variety of tools and methods in the treatment of different disorders. PPT combines the knowledge and experiences taken from the Eastern cultural environment with the advances made by the Western concepts of psychotherapy. Concepts of PPT, such as the basic capacities or the model dimensions, are practical tools for working on the transcultural content behind the symptoms. Besides giving case examples about how these tools are be applied in clinical practice, this chapter illustrates and cites essential arguments from evidence regarding transcultural psychotherapy and elements of PPT.
