Abstract

Abstract Cathode materials have been prepared in 12 M H2SO4 by electrochemical oxidation of CrO3-graphite intercalation compounds (CrO3-GICs). Striking effects appearing on cyclic potentiodynamic curves of CrO3-GICs because of intercalation of sulfuric acid are discussed in relation to the formation of the CrO3-graphite oxide system. Charge/discharge characteristics of these cathodes are compared with those of graphite oxide prepared from pure graphite.
