Abstract
The study by Byrne et al. [1] in this edition of Diabetic Medicine reports the results of an extensive survey of healthcare professionals regarding their experience of training support to help people with diabetes. The authors conclude that healthcare professionals are ‘insufficiently equipped to provide diabetes self-management education including emotional and psychological aspects of diabetes’. This conclusion prompted me to reflect on how far we have, or rather have not, come in the last decade. This article is protected by copyright. All rights reserved.
